Peer Support
Headway is focussed on harnessing the value of lived experience. We are formally adopting a peer support model, grounded in the belief that those who share similar experiences or challenges can provide mutual support, empathy, and empowerment to each other.
Peer support groups are structured through the mediums of learn, move, grow, create, and connect, operating from community venues across Auckland.
We recognise that everyone is different, and some need a vehicle, for example, art, to connect with others and share openly.
These groups will all be facilitated either by a Headway team member or by subject specialists who have received brain injury education through Headway.
While our navigation services continue to be delivered free to our community, a gold coin koha is requested to assist with the running of peer support groups.
*Specialist classes may incur an extra cost.
